Thrustmaster T300 RS Review: A Racing Wheel Masterpiece

Thrustmaster has been one of the main players in racing steering wheels for a long time now. While Logitech(G923Model) has focused on making everything look pretty, Thrustmaster's hardware focuses on functionality.

The T300 RS is no exception to that rule. It's got an understated design that wouldn't look out of place gracing the dash of a high-end car.

Thrustmaster T300 RS racing wheel Review

The build quality is good, with rubber grips on the wheel rim to prevent your hands from slipping off during those frantic races. The pedal unit features two pedals (gas, brake) as well as nicely spaced gear shift paddles. There are also push buttons on all four corners of the wheel rim.

The pedals are plastic, but feel sturdy enough to hold up to some abuse. The gear paddles require a little bit too much force though (and the metal ones of the GTE feel better).

There's also an optional ''H'' pattern shifter if you want three-pedal control but it will cost a little extra.

The wheel itself is also strong, with a brushed aluminum plate on the front of the rim. It's just about possible to twist it if you put your back into it, but you wouldn't be doing that in-game anyway.

As standard, there are two pedals included - gas and brake - though they are no different from those that feature on Thrustmaster's cheaper T150. The real draw here is the included wheel rim.

It's made of brushed aluminum and features impressively responsive force feedback, provided by two built-in motors. Thrustmaster has always excelled at this aspect of its wheels (and it does here too) providing smooth, precise steering.

The Thrustmaster T300 RS is a force feedback wheel. There's no mention of PS4 compatibility anywhere on Thrustmaster's site, but the T300 RS works with PS4.

It features twin motors, delivering incredibly strong force feedback - by far the most powerful we've ever experienced in fact - and it feels fantastic.

The Thrustmaster T300 RS also features an extremely smooth and precise force feedback system and the wheel base itself is relatively light, but still feels sturdy on your lap thanks to its well-designed grips - it won't slide around under frantic cornering or while you're trying to keep a bead on a target in a shoot out.

There are Thrustmaster wheels with more features - the TX, for example - but if you want an entry-level force feedback wheel that's still very powerful and versatile, this is perfect.

Thrustmaster T300 RS: Design

Take your driving to a new level of realism with the Thrustmaster T300 RS. This wheel delivers intense road feedback and longstanding build quality that other wheels just can’t match, making it perfect for racing addicts or those simply looking for a better way to experience their favorite games.

You’ll never want to go back after experiencing the realism of a powerful motor pushing against your turns, artificially recreating the forces felt in actual car races.

Experience it with adventure games like DiRT 4 or spend some time tuning up your precision driving skills with F1 2017; there are plenty of downloadable games ̴soon ̵ coming that will take advantage of this powerful racing wheel.

The wheel supports full 1080-degree rotation, which can be stopped down to 270 degrees in the software. Using force feedback motors and leather covered gear shifters gives it a more serious feel than its rubber counterpart for gamers who want that realism without sacrificing comfort or ease of use.

Thrustmaster T300 RS Racing Wheel: Force Feedback

Force feedback wheels deliver a new kind of immersion that you can't find anywhere else as they respond to your games as though you're actually on the track. Thrustmaster's T300 RS delivers some of the best force feedback we've ever experienced thanks to its twin motors and brushless design, recreating every bump and turn in any game with pinpoint.

We loved the force feedback on this wheel. It's very strong and fast, providing a great sense of immersion that we think is its main draw for many gamers who want extra sensation in their racing or flight simulators.

The best results came from Gran Turismo games where you can adjust how much pressure your hands are receiving from movement-sensitive buttons; otherwise, it works well with most titles out there today.

Is Thrustmaster T300 RS worth buying?

A good force feedback wheel can completely changing games, increasing the involvement you feel in your virtual car. If you're a fan of these types of games then it's something that should be experienced by everyone who owns one!

The Thrustmaster T300 RS is currently our top pick for best driving simulator peripheral due to its quality features and long battery life (up to 10 hours).

Thrustmaster T300 RS Compatibility

One of the T300’s main selling points is compatibility: it works with PlayStation 4, PC and PS3 thanks to a switch that changes wheel mode. This means you can use your new racing wheel for Forza Motorsports series on Xbox One as well!

The new button layout on the T300 is much improved over its predecessor. The L2, R2 and Select buttons are now closer to your thumbs so they can be reached with ease without removing your hand from the wheel while driving.

This was achieved by moving these four inputs away for drivers who find themselves using two hands whilst racing or handling complex maneuvers to easily access them without taking their eyes off what's happening down below at stoplights.

Thrustmaster T300 RS Verdict

Is the T300RS twice as good as its predecessor?

Well, I can honestly say that there's no comparison. The difference between these two wheels is so vast and significant; you might not even know what to compare them by!

While they may both have their pros and cons (such as different button layouts), in general speaking – if one were looking for an excellent steering mechanism with all of its features intact then look nowhere else but towards this product from Thrustmaster. Made specifically designed exclusively for PlayStation 4 gaming consoles, this wheel offers players great accuracy at high speeds while still providing responsive handling during turns or emergency maneuvers.
