PlayStation 5 is on the Way: Updated Details

Playstation 5 is on the way, with Sony offering new details about the console and confirming that it will be available on the market by the end of 2020.

The most important new piece of information is related to the new controller, and this time it has force feedback, rather than haptic feedback. Specifically, the new Dualshock will have the ability to play, physically, very fine elements of a game, being able to differentiate between the movement of a character through the grass and that through the mud. So far, the only other controller that has such haptic feedback is the one made by Valve.

But the new Playstation 5 gamepad goes one step further. It will have programmable resistance for each trigger. The developers will be able to modify the physical resistance of the two buttons from the game, offering a different experience for each action used by them.

Otherwise, you can expect Playstation 5 to come with 100GB Blu Ray XL support, and games will be treated with a bit more finesse in terms of their files, rather than being treated as a single unitary block of data. Also, the console will have Ray Tracing at hardware level, not through any software acceleration technique.

Considering how long it has been until the console is released, you can expect such drop-in information over the next year.
